Continental Automotive Plant Machine Installation - Ready for the Grand Opening Mid June

Continental has completed machine installation at Amata City Rayong Plant. Confirms Its confidence on Thai economy. Product pipeline will produce Powertrain diesel injectors, high pressure pumps and common rail assemblies.

Mr. Thomas Chambers, Managing Director, Continental Automotive (Thailand) Co. Ltd. reveals the latest progress on Continental’s plant opening. “Installation of machines in the Powertrain plant in Amata City, Rayong, has been progressing and is expected to be fully operational before the grand opening on 16 June 2009. This plant will produce Powertrain diesel injectors, high pressure pumps and common rail assemblies. In the future, also Interior electronics will be produced there. The production line will start operating from 2009 for exports to China, India and Europe. From 2010 onwards our production will also support domestic consumption”, said Thomas Chambers.

Mr. Chambers confirms that the current economic situation does not affect Continental’s plan of the Powertrain plant which is scheduled to be opened in June 2009.

German-based Continental AG, one of the world's top 5 automotive suppliers, has invested over EUR 100 million or equivalent to THB 5 billion in the automotive plant at the Amata City Industrial Estate in Rayong province.

The new Powertrain and Interior manufacturing plant will occupy a floor space of approximately 25,300 square meters (30 rais) and comprise of print room/spray painting, evaluation and section facilities including Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA), quality management, laboratories, production engineering and tooling.
