Tuesday 06 September 2011 10:20
Chevrolet Sales Thailand recently introduced its ‘Automotive Service Educational Program’ (ASEP) to the Mechanical Engineering Division of Phitsanulok Technical College at the Phitsanulok province in Thailand. Aimed at improving the level and quality of vocational education, particularly in the field of automotive engineering, the college will receive one Chevrolet Colorado as part of the program. The Colorado will be used to enhance hands-on technical learning.

Mr. Martin Apfel, President of GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, was joined by Mr. Phitsanu Polwai, Co-manager of A&P Auto Limited Partnership (Chevrolet Phitsanulok), Mr. Worachai Uttamachai, Deputy Governor of Phitsanulok, and Mr. Boonsong Inchaiwong, Assistant Director of the Academic Department and Acting Director of Phitsanulok Technical College, during the official launching ceremony of ASEP at the institution.

“The ‘Automotive Service Educational Program’ (ASEP) was started in 2006 as a part of the ‘Chevrolet Develops Thai Education’ campaign. Phitsanulok Technical College is one of 11 vocational colleges participating in ASEP Thailand. In addition to learning about automotive technology, students will also have the opportunity to practice what they learned in a hands-on environment. At present, more than 450 students have graduated from ASEP. These students will get an opportunity to join an internship program and work with Chevrolet as well.” Mr. Martin said.

“The ASEP project is like sowing a seed which will turn into a big tree in the future. It will expand educational and career opportunities for youths in Thailand and enhance the quality of human resources in the industry — the foundation for sustainable industrial development ” Mr. Martin added.

In addition to the Phitsanulok Technical College, Chevrolet Sales Thailand also made a stop at the Loei Province and donated a library to the Baan Na Moon Tun school. The library, also a part of the ‘Chevrolet Develops Thai Education’ Campaign, is a joint-effort between Chevrolet Sales Thailand, Chief Phu Luang District Officer, Pattanachaiyont Auto Group Compay Limited (Chevrolet Loei) and Pico (Thailand) Public Company Limited. It will be equipped with books and media that are essential for keeping up with today’s global educational trends, providing students access to information and empowering them with knowledge. Chevrolet’s library donation project is now in its sixth year.

Mr.Martin said “Chevrolet is pleased to play its part in giving an opportunity to Thai youths to development themselves and providing them with access to information and education. Building libraries and giving access Thai youths access to information will broaden and enhance knowledge. Education and knowledge is the foundation of the development of the community and eventually, the country.”
