ROLLS-ROYCE MOTOR CARS MAJESTIC HORSE COLLECTION

Tuesday 25 March 2014 16:05
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is delighted to announce the debut of the Majestic Horse Collection - a limited number of Bespoke Rolls-Royce Ghosts that take inspiration from classical interpretations of the horse in traditional Chinese art.

The cars present a contemporary re-imagining of the traditional Chinese representation of the horse in beautifully hand-crafted marquetry to the dash-board and embroidery to the headrest and cushions. The exterior is exquisitely finished with horse motif, hand-applied to the twin coachlines.

The collection also times with the Chinese Zodiac, Year of the Horse, being celebrated in 2014. The convergence of two key themes of this highly auspicious year can be seen in the dashboard’s hand-crafted marquetry. In traditional Chinese cultures, an ‘element’ is celebrated in conjunction with an animal. For the first time in over half a century, the element ‘wood’ and the horse are marked in the same year.

“Customers from around the world choose to commission motor cars that celebrate cultural stories and occasions. It is testament to the creativity and flexibility of Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke design team that these requests can be beautifully executed,” said Gavin Hartley, Bespoke Design Manager. “It is most satisfying to celebrate both this highly auspicious year in Chinese culture and our craftspeoples’ mastery of wood.”

The creation of the Majestic Horse Ghost follows a period of exceptional growth in demand for Bespoke personalisation globally. Almost 95% of Rolls-Royce cars purchased last year were personalised by their owners, reinforcing the claim that Rolls-Royce is the luxury carmaker for the connoisseur who demands the best in individualisation. In the Asia-Pacific region - an increase of 50% has been observed outside of China Mainland.

“Asia Pacific customers are increasingly embracing the unparalleled scope for personalisation our Bespoke service offers.” said Paul Harris, Asia Pacific Regional Director, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “This limited series of motor cars perfectly marries Chinese artistic tradition to the very best in contemporary British automotive design. Highly discerning customers have a profound appreciation of fine craftsmanship, with many delighting at travelling to the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England to consult with designers and witness first-hand the practices that reinforce Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ position as purveyor of the world’s pinnacle super-luxury goods.”

Deliveries to customers of the limited Majestic Horse Edition Ghost are expected to commence from Quarter 2 of 2014.
