Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd. has revealed outstanding sales figures for May 2016 as the company maintains the highest growth in the market. Despite the arrival of the rainy season which usually slows down auto sales, Mazda still enjoyed dramatic growth of 23% after achieving sales of 3,522 units in May.

Mr. Hidesuke Takesue, President of Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd., said Mazda has been enjoying continues growth in the Thai auto market sales over 3,500 units monthly for 7 consecutive months. "The market in general is also showing signs of improvement since there is considerable demand and stronger consumer confidence as the economy is showing signs of improvement as well. Another positive factor that can be seen clearly is Mazda's determination in brand-building in order to create a difference and maintain a unique character. Mazda has taken the right steps to ensure this, and we have also created stronger brand awareness by communicating the brand values through four main strategies. They include the SKYACTIV technology, KODO design, MZD Connect infotainment and i-Activsense safety package. They have made Mazda a brand that has all the core values that customers want," he said.

In the month of May, which is not an auto-buying season, Mazda was still able to achieve significant sales of 3,522 units and 23% growth. Looking closely into the market, the small car segment still remains a strong contributor, with the Mazda2 maintaining its high popularity since its launch with sales of 1,889 units, surging by 43% compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, despite the introduction of new competitors for the Mazda3, sales remain unaffected at 337 units. The trendy crossover market sees the Mazda CX-3 consistently attracts customer to dealers gaining 423 units, while the new CX-5 that has just been launched received 353 orders making it the model with the highest growth rate at 45%. In the pickup market, sales of the BT-50 PRO hit 516 units while four units of the MX-5 roadster were sold.

During the first 5 months of 2016 (January to May) Mazda emerged as the to-growing brand in the Thai automobile market with sales of 17,869 units reflecting a growth of 29% compared to the corresponding period last year. The most popular model is the Mazda2 with an aggregate of 9,556 units, growing by 67% followed by the CX-3 with 2,489 units, Mazda3 with 1,871 units, CX-5 with 1,353 units, the BT-50 PRO with 2,582 units and the MX-5 with 18 units. These strong performances have enabled Mazda to secure the third position in the passenger car segment firmly.

Mr. Thee Permpongpanth, Marketing Director, added, "The success of the Mazda brand with the 6th generation of products has resulted in a dramatic and continuous rise in sales, and we can see a large number of Mazda vehicles on the road every day. What Mazda needs to be prepared for is servicing the large population of Mazda vehicles in the country and this year Mazda has designated after-sales service as the main strategy that we will push forward fully. This includes improving the whole aftersales service in each showroom and strong determination in impressing the customer both before and after sales take place, as well as stepping up to become a premium brand. We also plan to stage activities and sales campaigns to make it easier for customers to own Mazda cars. For example we are celebrating the 5-million-unit production milestone for the Mazda3 by offering a special promotion consisting of special interest rates and free insurance from today to June 30."
