Unilever Thai Trading Limited., marketer of Sunsilk - a leader of hair care products, announced the kick-off of a major public campaign called "Reflection of Woman" campaign, inviting all members of the public all over the country to send in pictures with caption depicting their meaning of womanhood into the first-ever nationwide effort to celebrate the values and meaning of woman.
Following its recent introduction of the newly formulated Sunsilk shampoos and conditioners, the brand's biggest re-launch in 8 years, and the airing of 30 - episode TV series on lives of women under the "Every Woman Matters" project last month, Sunsilk is kicking off a new campaign that will become another talk-of-the-town - the "Reflection of Woman" campaign.
The "Reflection of Woman" campaign calls for all Thais living nationwide to expressing their views on the values and meaning of women through pictures, which will be later, created into a sculpture of which HRH Princess Siribhachudabhorn graciously created the design.
Moreover, participants who submit their pictures are also entitled for a chance to win 10,000 baht cash prize, of which a total of eight prizes are offered, while being able to join Sunsilk for a good cause. For each picture entry, Sunsilk will donate 1 baht in support of the Breast Foundation Under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother.
Ms. Wannipa Bhakdibutr, Managing Director - Personal Care Business Unit of Unilever Thai Trading Limited said that the "Reflection of Woman" campaign was a follow-up of the highly acclaimed 30- episode TV series created by Sunsilk.
"After we aired 30 episodes of TV series that featured meaningful lives of many interesting women, we are proud to introduce a new campaign that offers a chance for consumers of all groups to manifest their admiration and appreciation for women through pictures, of which all entries will be used to create a sculpture entitled "Reflection of Woman" later," said Ms. Wannipa.
The "Reflection of Woman" campaign invites the general public across Thailand to send in pictures that reflect their meaning of womanhood. The pictures can take any forms and styles, and must be accompanied by a few lines of description related to the pictures submitted. Send the pictures to Post Box 391 Ladprao, Bangkok 10310 from October 23 - November 30, 2003. All pictures entered will be used to create a sculpture entitled "Reflection of Woman" of which the design was graciously granted by HRH Princess Siribhachudabhorn. Ms. Wannipa stated that the sculpture to be created by Sunsilk is the first art piece ever to be created collaboratively by the entire Thai public to reflect their admiration and appreciation of woman. To add colors to the event, Sunsilk has also invited celebrities from many circles including "Ken" Theeradej Wongpuapan, the popular actor, "Pod" Tanachai Ucchin, lead singer of Modern Dog, "Yai" Amat Nimitpak, top fashion photographer, and "Namfon" Virunkarn Kritboonyalai, the new generation businesswoman, to present pictures that reflect their very own meaning of womanhood, along with descriptive lines, for use as samples for others.
The "Reflection of Woman" campaign also offers a chance for participants to take part in a good cause since Sunsilk will donate 1 baht for each single entry to the Breast Foundation Under the Patronage of HRH the Princess Mother, a charitable agency that works to promote proper examination and diagnosis of breast diseases by modern medical equipments and techniques, advancement of breast disease treatment and prevention, while serving as a resource and public education center on breast diseases for health professionals and the general public.
Besides organizing activities to project images and meaning of woman, Sunsilk has developed new initiatives to support and promote the status of women. Since health is a vital part of our lives, and breast cancer is one of the fatal diseases that take so many lives of Thai women each year, Sunsilk has chosen to help alleviate the problem by offering support to the Breast Foundation in the following two areas : 1) support for public knowledge program on breast self -examination, and 2) support for purchase of mammograms equipment for the Breast Center.
Dr. Tamnit Ansusinha, Committee member and Secretary General of the Breast Foundation Under Patronage of HRH the Princess Mother, said that " the Breast Foundation was founded 8 years ago, and was the last project initiated by HRH the Princess Mother. The aim of the Foundation is to reduce breast cancer among women in Thailand. Over the past years, we have been delighted to see that a number of private organizations have given their supports to promote awareness for better health care for women. The ' Reflection of Woman' campaign initiated by Sunsilk will significantly contribute to this effort as it not only promotes the values and meaning of women, but also serves to mobilize support from the Thai public to follow the initiative of HRH the Princess Mother".
Ms. Wannipa added that the " Reflection of Woman" campaign is a major opportunity for Sunsilk and the general public to come together to express our admiration and appreciation for women. The event also provides supports for the social benefits. Therefore, Sunsilk hopes that the event will be well received by the consumers, just like the previous activities.
