To celebrate the upcoming season of giving, IKEA is launching its popular Soft Toys for Education campaign on November 10.

For every soft toy sold in the IKEA Bangna store during the campaign (Nov 10 2013— Jan 11 2014),the IKEA Foundationwill donate ?1 to support children’s education projects managed by Save the Children and UNICEF.

“IKEA is delighted to support Soft Toys for Educationagain this year. We are passionate supporters because we understand education is the most powerful and effective way to help children escape poverty, and has a direct impact on well-being from better health to increased opportunities,” said Lacia Sherlock, store manager, IKEA Banga.

“Based on past results, our customers share this passion and we’re looking forward to another successful festive season campaign,” added Ms Sherlock.

To build extra interest, IKEA has launched a new range of soft toys to coincide with the 2013-14 campaign. The IKEA superheroes range includes LUFSIG, a soft toy wolf, KRULLIG, a soft toy elf, SANGTRAST, a soft toy fairy, GULLGOSSE, a soft toy king, and NOJSIG, a soft toy princess.

Thanks to the generosity of customers, IKEA Banga raised ?85,271 (THB 3.6 million) last year. The money was donated to an IKEA Soft Toys for Education global fund that raised more than ?9 million (THB 382 million) for UNICEF and Save the Children programs.

Since Soft Toys for Education was launched in 2003, the IKEA Foundation has raised and donated ?57 million to UNICEF and Save the Children to support education projects that have benefited 10 million children in 46 countries.

Twice the Joy-Share the Joy Campaign

IKEA customers can also bring smiles to Thai children through the “Twice the Joy-Share your Toy” campaign. From November 10 until January 11, 2014, customers can purchase an IKEA soft toy and drop it into a collection bin at the IKEA Bangna store - IKEA Thailand will match every soft toy donation made by supporting customers.

When the program ends, the toys will be donated to orphaned children living in five villages (in BangpooSamutprakarn, HatyaiSongkla, Nongkhai, Chiang Rai and Phuket) run by the SOS Children’sVillages Foundation.

IKEA is confident of attracting another great response. Last year more than 1,500 IKEA soft toys were donated to children living in southern Thailand’s Yala,Narathiwat and Pattani provinces.
