True Group is reinforcing its position as Thailand’s leading hi-speed home and mobile Internet provider, expanding its hi-speed HOME Internet network by investing Baht 33 billion to expand its Fiber network (FTTx) to reach approximately 4 million households in Bangkok and also expand to upcountry nationwide to cover a total of 10 million households within 2016. This will help Thailand become the regional hub for digital economy. True is also investing Baht 10 billion to expand its hi-speed MOBILE Internet network to make its 4G LTE service accessible to cover 80% of the Thai population nationwide by mid-2015.

Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, President and CEO of True Corporation Plc, said, “True Group has shown consistent determination to expand its communications network to meet the goal of creating a learning environment and closing the digital divide among Thai people nationwide. The country is poised to become the future regional hub for digital economy. As the leading hi-speed HOME and MOBILE Internet provider, we are very confident that we will transform Bangkok's infrastructure by investing Baht 33 billion to expand our FTTx network to cover 4 million households in Bangkok and also expand to upcountry nationwide to cover a total of 10 million households within 2016. To modernize Thailand’s communications capabilities to a level equivalent to other countries, our aim is to turn the country into a ‘Connected Society’ where every citizen can be effectively connected via hi-speed HOME Internet. This reflects True’s ‘Hi-speed Internet Everywhere’ concept that emphasizes innovative, convenient and fast Internet for both business and daily use. We are also investing Baht 10 billion to expand our 4G LTE network, which provides hi-speed MOBILE Internet, to make it available to over 80% of population of Thailand nationwide by the middle of 2015.”

Hi-speed HOME Internet via FTTx will offer the fastest and most reliable Internet connection to True customers within the first quarter of 2015. The Baht 33 billion project includes installing a fiber optic network throughout Bangkok including high-rise buildings as well as upcountry nationwide within 2 years. In 2016 True’s hi-speed HOME Internet network will cover 10 million households nationwide. When complete, the innovative hi-speed HOME Internet FTTH service will support Quad Play services that include broadband up to 10 Gbps, clear voice, ultra-high definition (UHD) TV and the ability connect to a super hi-speed mobile hot-spot device (equivalent to 4G), meeting the requirements of both residential and small business subscribers. The broadband service via FTTx will drive the growth of Thailand’s hi-speed Internet market, increasing True’s market share in Bangkok and the surrounding areas from 65% to 70% within 2016.

For hi-speed MOBILE Internet, TrueMove H is the first 4G LTE service provider to enable customers to use mobile Internet at speeds 3 to 5 times faster. True is moving ahead by investing another Baht 10 billion to expand its 4G LTE coverage to make it accessible to 80% of the Thai population nationwide by mid-2015. This is combined with TrueMove H’s first-class mobile services based on its best nationwide 3G 850 and 2100 MHz service spanning across 77 provinces, 928 districts, 7,394 sub-districts, and 67,615 villages, plus WiFi by TrueMove H which covers 105,721 hot spots. TrueMove H 4G LTE currently covers Bangkok and surrounding areas as well as 14 major provinces.

“We are confident that the investment in Hi-speed Internet Everywhere will become a talk-of-the-town project among Thailand's telecommunication industry. These investments are another good example of True showing its confidence and readiness to move forward in the world of hi-speed Internet that will support a wide range of innovative services in the future. It’s also in parallel with the national Digital Economy that is committed to supporting economic activities relating to IT development. True Group is proud to be a part of this development in transforming Thailand into a regional digital economy hub. True also strongly believes that expanding its hi-speed Internet services together with its convergence strategy which responds to each facet of customers’ evolving lifestyles, will ultimately contribute to the Company's success and reinforce True’s position as the leading telecommunications service provider,” concluded Mr. Suphachai.
