The official Vivid Sydney 2016 program will be announced at an exclusive media event at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) and live streamed at on Thursday 17 March 2016.

Destination NSW, the NSW Government's tourism and major events agency, with Vivid Sydney's Creative Director and Curators will announce the 2016 line-up including local and international speakers, music acts, light installations and icon projections, and precincts that will feature at this year's event.

Vivid Sydney, the world's largest festival of light, music and ideas, will run for an additional five nights from Friday 27 May - Saturday 18 June 2016. Running over 23 nights, it will be the longest the festival has ever operated in its eight-year history.

Vivid Sydney, owned, managed and produced by Destination NSW, has been instrumental in reinforcing Sydney as the creative industries' hub in the Asia-Pacific region. Last year, a record of 1.7 million people visited the event including more than 112,000 international and domestic overnight attendees who travelled to NSW specifically for Vivid Sydney.
