The 20-year National Strategy framework and Mega Projects in Thailand
Mr. Aungsurus Areekul, President, TCA, revealed that the 20-year National Strategy Framework aims to increase the competitiveness of the country. The Framework will focus on investments in infrastructure and transportation, such as high-speed rail systems, double-rail systems and a deep sea port to reduce costs and transportation time. In addition, the high-rise building project 'One Bangkok', which is Thailand's first and largest fully integrated district of 1.83 million sqm will integrate commercial offices; retail, hospitality; residential; art and culture; and eight hectares of green and open spaces. In addition, the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development plan is considered a significant project to build relationships with CLMV countries and also include the connections in "One Belt One Road" of China. Overall, the expected construction and infrastructure spending growth is 5-10% in the ASEAN region which is worth over USD 2.9 trillion.
