To consolidate its customer-centric vision and propel the SME ecosystem, Siam Commercial Bank is employing a fixed formula based on four indispensable factors, including the Knowledge, Banking Products and Services, Connections, and Digital Solutions to help small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) achieve their ultimate goal and upsize their businesses from hundreds to thousands of million baht through the SCB SME Academy.

SCB Senior Executive Vice President and Chief SME Banking Officer Mrs. Pikun Srimahunt said that Thai SMEs experienced intense competition both locally and overseas and new challenging environments throughout the first half of this year. However, they remained able to maintain the viability of their businesses and enjoy satisfactory growth.

SCB sees SMEs as competent and with much more room for growth in the future. Therefore, in the second half of this year the bank is strongly determined to let SMEs unleash their power to ensure their ultimate goals are reached, whether increasing sales and profitability or business expansion in overseas markets. To this end, the SME ecosystem was initiated to enable entrepreneurs to grow to the utmost of their competence based on four indispensable factors, including Knowledge, Banking Products and Services, Connections, and Digital Solutions.

In terms of a foundation for sustainable growth, SCB has developed the SCB SME Academy as a community of business knowledge to nurture SME competence in a 360 degree manner. Today, four main curricula have been jointly developed and designed by experts, featuring the development of business competency in every dimension and comprising knowledge, techniques, strategy, applicability, and success evaluation. Learning and teaching of each training course will be industry-focused to ensure participants apply the knowledge they have gained to further support and boost their own business growth to the utmost. In addition, the SCB SME Academy has cooperated with external organizations to offer other extra curricula, including weekly seminars. In short, there are 80 courses and training and seminars throughout the year. It is expected that up to 3,580 SMEs will have access to this knowledge network.

Mrs. Pikun said the SCB SME Academy is in a class alone for SMEs at present as it has an army of 19 mentors who are successful businesspersons, ready to exchange perspectives and share their direct experience with learners to stimulate the discovery of new ideas and pass on sustainable success to younger SMEs. With a complete SME ecosystem and intense one-on-one consultation in every curricula, SCB eagerly hopes it will enable participating SMEs to weather any challenges, achieve business goals, and leap-frog growth of their businesses from tens to hundreds and thousands of million baht in value.

The main curricula available under the SCB SME Academy include The DOTs, SCB Intelligent Trade Program (ITP), SCB Intelligent Entrepreneurs (IEP), , and The Mentor initiated to groom existing SMEs to serve as advisors for those coming later. The Academy has also cooperated with external organizations to offer many other short and long term extra curricula, such as Jumpstart initiated by cooperation with Amazon Global Selling to boost Thai SME growth in the international e-commerce market.
