Bangkok--22 Feb--HSBC

HSBC Thailand is partnering with leading educational centers and offering its comprehensive international banking services to support students studying overseas. The Bank aims to attract high net-worth parental customers intending to send their children abroad to be educated.

Wichit Phayuhanaveechai, Head of Personal Financial Services, HSBC Thailand said, “HSBC Premier, as the leading international personal banking service, is well-positioned to serve the financial needs of Premier customers and their family members. We intend to leverage our strength in borderless banking service and global network to attract parental customers wanting to send their children to study abroad and, in so doing, expand our Premier customer base.”

“The number of students studying abroad grows every year and, despite cautious consumer spending during the recent economic downturn, educational investment for their children’s future remains a top priority for parents. In addition to this growing demand, the overseas education market presents a great opportunity for HSBC as currently no other banks can fully meet the needs of this market. HSBC Premier customers and their children will be able to enjoy unrivalled financial services including preparing for a foreign bank account opening prior to departing Thailand, free international fund transfers and an emergency encashment facility of up to US$2,000 in the case of a lost / stolen wallet or ATM card,” said Mr Wichit.

To facilitate a rapid and substantial presence in overseas education market, HSBC Thailand has partnered with 12 prestigious organisations to provide comprehensive services for students planning to study abroad. These business alliances are with: Mentor International; CETA - Complete Education and Touring Australia; Dominic & Chang Corporation Co. Ltd.; Infolearning; International Education Promotions (I.E.P.); Jeducation; Learning Curve Co. Ltd.; McDucation - Study in Scotland; OEC – Global Education; Swiss Education Group; The Dean Inter-Education Consulting and The British Council.

Mr. Wichit continued, “HSBC is very pleased to join hands with 12 leading educational organisations to provide a comprehensive range of overseas education services for Premier customers and their children. These include advisory and consultancy services, travel and accommodation assistance and financial planning advice to students studying in favourite-choice education countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Switzerland, China, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong.”

In addition, HSBC has produced a ‘Studying Overseas Guidebook’ that contains useful information and tips for studying abroad, including journey planning, financial assistance and useful contact numbers and addresses of overseas Thai embassies and consulates. The guidebook will be distributed to new HSBC Premier customers and visitors to the 12 partner educational organisations.

Customers who deposit or invest at least 3 million baht with HSBC Premier can enjoy the global financial assistance for overseas education free of charge. Additional privileges for HSBC Premier customers and their family members include:
