Bangkok Bank has launched a ‘Debit Purchasing card’ as a convenient way for Hua Seng Heng gold-shop customers to pay for their gold purchases instead of using cash. The card will reduce the risks of carrying large amounts of cash to invest or to buy cashier’s cheques, and also reduce worries about price changes in the gold market which require gold buyers to reserve cash in advance for their gold purchases. Reflecting Bangkok Bank’s focus on customer security, cardholders will be able to use their cards only at EDC payment machines in Hua Seng Heng gold shops. Cardholders will also be requested to enter a personal PIN and sign sales slips for all purchases.

Bangkok Bank Senior Executive Vice President Chansak Fuangfu says the bank has worked with Hua Seng Heng gold shops to introduce the ‘Debit Purchasing card’ to offer the greatest possible convenience for gold buyers. The Debit Purchasing card can be used instead of cash so that customers no longer need to carry a large amount of cash or to withdraw cash for buying cashier’s cheques. The card will also reduce customers’ worries about reserving enough cash in advance for their gold purchases due to fluctuating prices in the gold market.

Hua Seng Heng Gold Futures Managing Director Tanarat Pasawongse says the Hua Seng Heng Debit Purchasing card is the company’s first collaboration yet with Bangkok Bank, which is the first financial services provider to launch a Debit Purchasing card onto the market, offering greater payment convenience for all Hua Seng Heng gold shop customers. Gold bullion is becoming more popular and a preferred choice of investment as it offers high returns. Customers planning to purchase gold as an investment will find the Hua Seng Heng Debit Purchasing card exactly meets their needs.

“Bangkok Bank always focuses on creating new products and services offering greater convenience for its customers,” says Mr Chansak. When a customer with a Hua Seng Heng Debit Purchasing card wants to buy gold, they can simply use their card at an EDC machine in the Hua Seng Heng gold shop, and enter their PIN to make their payment. The bank will instantly deduct money from the cardholder’s account. Cardholders will receive gold bullion and a sales slip for their purchasing reference. When every step is completed, cardholders will receive confirmation of their purchase with an SMS via their registered mobile phone number. Cardholders can receive a credit limit of up to Baht 999,999,999 per day for their gold purchases.

Bangkok Bank customers and others wanting a Hua Seng Heng Debit Purchasing card can apply at Hua Seng Heng gold shops or at Bangkok Bank’s Sampeng branch from now until 31 August 2010. The bank will waive its Baht 100 entrance fee, while the first year’s annual fee will be Baht 150 and each transaction will cost about Baht 20.
