Thai bourse with 21 listed firms to present Thailand attractiveness at Singapore and US roadshows

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), jointly with two securities firms, will organize roadshows in Singapore and the United States this month (July, 2016) with 21 Thai listed firms to present to global institutional investors the firms' strengths and the Thai capital market's potential growth.

SET President Kesara Manchusree said, "SET has become attractive investment venue to global investors as the average trading value of foreign investors in H1/2016 rose by 19.5 percent from 2015's. The average daily trading value of foreign investors was THB 11.76 billion (USD 332.15 million), out of the total THB 46.67 billion (USD 1.13 billion), accounting for 25.2 percent, from 22.2 percent in previous year. Foreign investors bought net THB 35.98 billion (USD 1.02 billion) in shares in the first six months. In addition, SET Index, with upbeat results, was on the rise in June with 12.2 percent growth year-to-date."

Recently, the Hong Kong-Japan roadshow in May could draw overwhelming attention from institutional investors, due to Thailand's improved economic growth the better-than-expected performance of Thai listed companies. This month, SET and DBS Vickers Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd. will organize "Thailand Corporate Access Day"roadshow in Singapore on July 12 with 11 medium-sized listed companies including infrastructure fund, with total market capitalization (as of July 8, 2016) of THB 570 billion (USD 16.10 billion), to present Thailand's macro-economic information directly to investors. The roadshow will focus on Thailand's industries which are key economic drivers with strong growth potential.

During July 18-21, SET together with Maybank Kim Eng Securities (Thailand) pcl would arrange "SET US Roadshow: Thailand Conference 2016" in New York, Boston and San Francisco with 11 mid to large-sized listed firms with strong potential for continued growth including those on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) andThailand Sustainability Investment (THSI) which is a specific list of firms with outstanding performance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects, towards sustainability, with total market capitalization (as of July 8, 2016) of THB 1.5 trillion (USD 42.37 billion). This has reinforced SET's strategic plan to enhance listed firm quality, a key factor to boost investor's long-term confidence, added Kesara.

After these roadshows, SET will join hands with Capital Nomura Securities pcl to organize the outbound roadshow in Japan again in October.
