Thai bourse market report for July 2016

- SET Index rose continuously to 1,524.07 points, up 18.3 pct from end-2015, outperforming peers in the region.

- Average daily securities trading value recorded a three-year and three-month high at THB 64.34 billion, rising 26.92 pct m-o-m.

- SET and mai Market capitalization increased to THB 15.1 trillion, a 19.53 pct rise from end-2015.

- Foreign investors were net buyers for third month in a row, with a net THB 45.3 billion worth in July.

- Average derivatives trading jumped to 302,536 contracts in July, or rising 21.10 pct from Y2015.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index, with upbeat results, continued an upward trend and closed at 1,524.07 at end-July, underpinned by capital inflows into Asia and anticipation of listed firms' performance in Q2. Consequently, foreign investors bought net in Thai stocks in July at THB 45.3 billion(USD 1.27 billion). This boosted up the year-to-date net foreign inflow to THB 81.27 billion (USD 2.30 billion).

At the end of July, the combined market capitalization of SET and Market for Alternative Investment (mai) was at THB 15.1 trillion (USD 428.61 billion), a 19.53 percent increase from the end of last year. The average daily trading value of SET and mai in July was THB 64.34 billion, reaching three-year and three-month high, rising 26.92 pct m-o-m, primarily due to Information and Communication Technology sector.

Key highlights for July

Securities:

- SET Index ended July at 1,524.07 points, up 18.3 percent from end-2015, highest in the region, or an increase of 5.5 percent from a month earlier.

- Market capitalization of SET was at THB 14.69 trillion (USD 416.86 billion), up 19.57 percent from end-2015,while market valuation of mai was at THB 382.58 billion (USD 10.86 billion), up 18.27 percent from end-2015.

- Forward P/E ratio of SET was 16.43 times, while mai's was 22.53 times.

- Dividend yield ratio of SET was 3.13 percent at the end of the month, while mai's was 1.24 percent.

- In July, average daily trading value of SET and mai rose 26.92 percent from a month earlier to THB 64.34 billion (USD 1.83 billion).

- Foreign investors bought net THB 81.27 billion in Thai shares in the past seven months, and were net buyers in July at THB 45.30 billion.

- Listed companies raised funds through equity worth a combined THB 60.82 billion, consisting of THB 2.68 billion from the primary market and THB 58.14 billion from the secondary market.

Derivatives:

- Derivatives trading volume rose to an average of 302,536 contracts per day in July, or 241,894 contracts YTD, rising 21.10 percent from 2015, mostly due to the increasing transactions of Single Stock Futures, SET50 Index Futures and Gold Futures.
