Bangkok Bank Director Charn Sophonpanich, representing Chin Sophonpanich Foundation Directors and Treasurer, and Chin Sophonpanich Foundation Executive Director Khunying Chodchoi Sophonpanich presented scholarships for the year 2016, worth a total of Baht 18.8335 million, to 626 students. Medical students from seven universities received 158 of the scholarships, 192 went to nursing students from eight universities, 99 to universities in Bangkok and provinces, three to vocational schools, 10 to secondary schools, 95 to elementary schools students, and 69 to Ton Kra Songklanakarin students. The Foundation recognizes the importance of building a strong academic platform for Thai youth across the country and awards scholarships that do not have to be repaid, in the expectation that scholarship awardees will contribute to the prosperity of the nation and their local communities after graduation. The Chin Sophonpanich Foundation has promoted education by awarding scholarships to Thai students since 1978, or for 38 consecutive years.
