Thai bourse announces winning teams of 2016 university-level economic contest

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), jointly with Romchatra Foundation and organizing partners, has announced the winners of "The Diamond Crown in Economics", the annual contest for youth from primary school to university level to win scholarships and an overseas study trips, with a student team from Thammasat University receiving the HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn Cup.

This year's competition for university level, held on October 9, 2016 at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, could attract 696 candidates from 60 universities nationwide, an all-time high number of candidates.

SET President Kesara Manchusree said, "As SET always provides opportunities for young people to develop competencies, this unique annual contest organized for the eighth consecutive year, has reached out to university students for fourth consecutive year. This year, the contestants were challenged with the standardized exam tests designed by qualified professionals. In the final round, the students also gave a presentation on the simulation of real-world situation to enhance students' excellence in economics."

The student team from the Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University, consisted of Duangnapha Limpipolpaiboon, Nond Prueksiri and Kanokporn Suesat, won the gold medal. In addition to the HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn Cup, the team was also awarded the gold medals, certificates and scholarships. They were also granted a special study trip abroad, to be accompanied by their lecturers.

The silver medal team from the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, consisted of Wachirasee Suwansukho, Theerachet Chaomeepurm and Jutamas Charoensuk, while the bronze medal team from the Faculty of Economics, Chulalongkorn University, consisted of Natthee Mundee, Khemmakorn Srichanyanonth and Numsap Srisakolkit.

The organizing partners include Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Economics, Thai Life Assurance Association and The Crown Property Bureau. The competition is also supported by Capital Market Development Fund Foundation, Siam Commercial Bank pcl's Economic Intelligence Center and President Bakery pcl.
