CENTENNIAL--27 Jun--S&P Global Ratings

CENTENNIAL (S&P Global Ratings) June 26, 2018--S&P Global Ratings assigned its 'A' long-term rating to Pearl River County School District, Miss.' series 2018 general obligation (GO) bonds. The outlook is stable.

Officials will use proceeds for a number of districtwide projects, including classroom expansions and renovations and HVAC upgrades.

"The GO rating reflects our view of the district's stable tax base and very strong available reserves, offset by its adequate but below-average wealth and income levels," said S&P Global Ratings credit analyst Joyce Jung.

The stable outlook reflects our expectation that the district's finances will remain very strong. Therefore, we do not anticipate changing the rating within our two-year outlook horizon.
We could lower the rating if the district's reserves deteriorate to a level no longer comparable with that of its peers.

We could raise the rating if the district's economy expands, increasing its wealth and income to levels commensurate with those of higher-rated peers, and if the district implements more robust financial practices and policies.

Certain terms used in this report, particularly certain adjectives used to express our view on rating relevant factors, have specific meanings ascribed to them in our criteria, and should therefore be read in conjunction with such criteria.
