SET announces winners of 2018 Crown Diamond in Economics Contest for university level

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), in collaboration with the Romchatra Foundation and partners from the public and private sectors, has announced the winners of the 6th university-level "Crown Diamond in Economics", a contest for students to sharpen competence in economics and philosophy of sufficiency economy, with a student team from Chulalongkorn University receiving trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Throughout a decade, this project has groomed a total of over 40,000 students ranging from primary, secondary to university levels from 9,000 educational institutions nationwide.

SET Senior Executive Vice President Krisada Sektrakul said equipping young Thais with the knowledge and skills of economics and sufficiency economy philosophy will help create talents in the field of economics and enhance them to analyze and apply such knowledge to benefit their daily life, careers and the country as a whole, particularly the development for sustainable growth in line with SET's vision: 'To Make the Capital Market Work for Everyone'.

This year, 621 students from 55 universities across the country participated in this university-level contest. The Gold Medal winner was a student team from the Faculty of Economics, Chulalongkorn University. The Silver Medal was awarded to a team from the Faculty of Economics, Kasetsart University, while The Bronze Medal went to a team from the Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University. The Gold medalists were also awarded scholarships, and certificates as well as scholarships for a study trip abroad to be accompanied by their faculty advisors.

The 6th university-level Crown Diamond in Economics competition was organized by SET together with Romchatra Foundation, Thai Life Assurance Association, and Faculty of Economics of Chulalongkorn University, Satriwitthaya 2 School.
