29 Thai listed firms granted SET Sustainability Awards 2018

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) today grants the "SET Sustainability Awards 2018" to 29 listed companies with outstanding achievement in sustainable business practices in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SET Sustainability Awards of Honor this year go to BANPU CFRESH, PTTGC, SAT, SCC, and TOP, recognized for their outstanding practices for three consecutive years.

SET President Pakorn Peetathawatchai said that one of SET's key missions is to develop listed companies' sustainable growth which will help boost global investor confidence and strengthen the foundation of the capital market and the as a whole. The event organized for four years in a row has been instrumental inrecognizing and motivating listed companies for their determination towards sustainability, while being role models for others. This year's winning companies represent every industry group, and the most awarded businesses were in Property and Construction, Resources, and Industrials industry groups, playingsignificant roles in Thailand's infrastructure and economic development.

Moreover, listed companies included in the selection process have demonstrated clear development in their corporate strategy formulation to achieve business sustainability through such initiatives as innovation development, responses to technological risks and utilization of their potential and knowledge to support the UN SDGs. These included SDGs 4: Quality Education; SDGs 6: Clean water and Sanitation; SDGs 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDGs 12: Sustainable Consumption and Production; and SDGs 13: Climate Action. Notably, 79 percent of the winners have pursued business plans that meet more than five SDGs,reflecting the depth of Thai listed companies have been committed to business practices that care for the society and the environment.

The SET Sustainability Awards 2018 presented the Sustainability Awards of Honor to six listed companies, namely BANPU CFRESH, PTTGC, SAT, SCC, andTOP. In addition, five Best Sustainability Awards were also presented to BCP, IRPC, MINT, PTT, SSSC, as well as 15 Outstanding Sustainability Awards presented to CPF, CPN, DELTA, FPI, HMPRO, IVL, KBANK, PPS, PSH, PTTEP, S & J, SC, SCB, SNC, and TSTH. Three newcomers having made their marks in business practices toward sustainability were also recognized with the Rising Star Awards, namely AGE, AMATA and STA. On this occasion, SET also presented certificate plaques to all the 79 listed companies selected included in Thailand Sustainability Investment (THSI) list, a list of stocks with outstanding performance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects.
