Libertarian Author Promotes Party With Novel

General Press Releases Thursday October 2, 2003 15:01

The author of "Flight From Eden," the new science fiction novel about freedom, has found a unique way to promote her party and her beliefs. Libertarian firebrand and author, Kathryn A. Graham, is offering an ongoing contest in which one entrant each month receives a free, signed copy of her book, which has had rave reviews from all over the country. It has even been reviewed by one presidential candidate for 2004!

In order to participate in the drawing, the contestant must answer correctly five multiple choice questions about the Libertarian Party and Libertarian principles. The contest is posted on the web site for her book:

The author provides a web site link for each of the questions. In each case, the linked page provides the correct answer.

When asked about this, Kathryn laughed. "My goal here is certainly not to reduce the number of people who can enter, or to find out what you already know about the party. The goal here is to educate the average man or woman on Libertarian beliefs and goals. I definitely want you to look it up! Cheating is authorized - even encouraged!

"Please let me add that 'Flight From Eden' is not a book about the Libertarian Party. In fact, it doesn't mention the party even once. It is a book about freedom, about patriotism, and it is a rollicking adventure. Entertainment! However, I do firmly believe that the only U.S. political party in existence today that truly understands freedom is the Libertarian Party." She grows a little pensive, adding, "If we don't start getting the message soon, my book is going to come true. The danger signs are everywhere. That might make me a rich woman, but it is not what I want."

Kathryn grimaces and adds, "When Republican or Democrat has come down to a blunt choice between Fascist and Socialist, it is past time for a third party to receive some serious attention."

Her infectious grin appears from nowhere. "I'm encouraged, though. The contest was to debut in October, but the response in these first few days has been so overwhelming that I've decided to hold the first drawing September 30th - in other words, tonight."

You go, girl!
