Bangkok--2 May--Japan Foundation
It is our great pleasure to present a photo exhibition entitled “Japanese Gardens - Four Seasons of Gardens in Kyoto” by Japanese photographer, Mr. Mizuno Katsuhiko.
Mizuno Katsuhiko was born in Kyoto city in 1941, graduated from the Department of Literature, Doshisha University, and completed a postgraduate course at the Tokyo Sogo Photography College. He has specialized in photographing the scenery of Kyoto since 1969. In 2000, he inaugurated his own photo gallery space, the “Machiya Shashinkan” or “Townhouse Photo Hall,” opening it to the public. His “Landscapes for Small Spaces” (Tsuboniwa) won the gold prize in the Home & Garden category of the Fore Word 2002 Book of the Year Award, sponsored by Fore Word Magazine. He is a member of the Japan Photographers Association and the Japan Photographic Art Society. He has had 140 books published, the majority of which have been photo collections.
Japanese landscape gardens have their own distinct forms, of which impressive examples may be found in Kyoto. While evolving through various phases of development, they reflect a tradition that goes back to the beginning of recorded history and continues even today.
We extend a warm welcome to all visitors and hope you will enjoy 40 photographs of the beautiful landscapes of Japanese gardens.
