At a high profile press conference and lunch event held today at Impact Exhibition Center, TNT Express Worldwide (Thailand) Co., Ltd unveiled its new fleet of trucks and trailers specially designed to suit pan-Asian routes.

In June of this year TNT celebrated the fifth anniversary of its highly successful Asia Road Network with an announcement of a major additional investment in the new trucks.

At today’s event which included Alongkorn Ponlaboot Deputy Minister of Commerce, Alan Miu, Managing Director of TNT Express Worldwide (Thailand) Co., Ltd said, “In June of this year we celebrated the fifth anniversary of TNT’s Asia Road Network and announced a major investment in a new fleet of trucks. Today we have great pleasure in presenting two of these specially designed vehicles that are part of the new fleet of trucks and trailers. This new fleet will certainly add another new dimension to our success in building up the strengthen of our TNT Asia Road Network and to continue our leadership position in this segment of our business”

Alan Miu added, “TNT’s pioneering Asia Road Network is the only integrated, reliable and secure road network in the region. The addition of the new fleet of trucks and trailers will substantially add to the network’s effectiveness and security. In fact, these new trucks represent the future of road transportation in the region. TNT and truck manufacturer Scania have collaborated closely on design and security features which are still unique in the region. The security systems have been provided by Astrata, with whom TNT will continually partner to ensure systems and processes are kept up to date.”

David Stenberg General Manager, Asia Road Network, added, “The addition of the new truck fleet comes as TNT is strategically positioning Thailand as the Indochina hub for both air and road logistics. To this end we have been continuously investing to take our ARN to the next level, establishing road transportation as an advanced, viable and sustainable alternative in this region. As well as having a greater load capacity than earlier trucks, the new models are also lighter and more fuel efficient, thus creating an overall smaller carbon footprint. TNT has long recognised the opportunity to create and invest into a road network that spans the region and that offers customers an attractive and safe middle option in freight transport, outside of air and shipping. We are very proud of our new fleet of trucks, they represent the future in trucks, as does our ARN in road transport”.

“Today, the TNT ARN network stretches more than 7,650 kilometres across 127 cities in 7 countries and is 30% less expensive than air transportation and three times faster than sea freight,” concluded the ARN general manager.

Growth volume for TNT’s Asia Road Network in Thailand is expected to reach 30% this year, mainly between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, with increasing growth to Vietnam and China. Additionally, TNT is pioneering Air-Road Hub Integration in Thailand and Indochina, strategically positioning Thailand to be the Indochina hub for both air and road logistics. TNT is the first pilot operator to implement the Customs RFID seal (Risk Management Tool) for clearance at Thai Airport Free Zone in cooperation with the Royal Thai Customs Department. With the Asia Road Network, the new fleet and the integrated air and road hub, TNT’s customers reap the direct benefits of increased efficiency, faster and more frequent delivery, and unsurpassed cargo security. Plans are already in hand to expand the network to include India.

TNT’s new fleet will comprise 12 trucks (6.65 metres in length x 2.55 metres in width x 4 metres in height) and fourteen 41 foot trailers (12.50 metres in length x 2.50 metres in width x 2.50 metres in height). Produced by Scania, the model R380 trucks were specially designed for TNT and tailored specifically for maximum efficiency on pan-Asian routes.
