A priceless moment not found anywhere else in the world is about to take place when global leader in sporting goods and lifestyle adidas teams up with Chelsea in the “Chelsea Youth Football Clinic” initiative, which is designed to give 150 Thai children, aged 12-15, a rare chance to experience the best soccer instruction from the football club’s coaching staffs.

The world-class football training programme will be held at Super Kick Stadium, Ladprao 80, from 25-26 August 2012.

This combined effort of Chelsea and its main sponsor adidas is destined to promote the long-term growth and sustainability of soccer in Thailand by giving young people the chance to experience the best soccer instruction by highly respected and experienced coaching staff from one of the world’s best soccer clubs — Chelsea. Participants include 120 vetted young people and 30 underprivileged children, who will be fully equipped with all ‘the tricks of the trade’.

“This is an extremely valuable opportunity for young people to be coached by internationally respected coaching staffs from one of the world’s leading football clubs — Chelsea,” says Vijay Chauhan, Country Manager, adidas (Thailand) Co., Ltd. “We believe the participants will be able to adapt what they learn from the course for further development of their skills and personalised training, taking their involvement and impact on the game to the next level. We also expect that this will be a good start and inspire all the participating youngsters to continue their dream of becoming professional footballers.”

“We understand the potential of young Thai people and are determined to see the sustainable growth of soccer in Thailand with the emerging younger generations. Therefore, we continue to attach a lot of importance to nurturing talented young players who really love playing football. Partnering with a world-leading football club like Chelsea greatly excites both adidas, and the participating youngsters alike, who will learn a lot from their favourite coaching staff. The programme is truly inspiring and will give all the participants skill enhancements and allow them to develop their abilities to the fullest,” says Mr Chauhan.

Steve Winnett, Chelsea FC College Academy Head Coach, one of the programme’s coaching staff, says: “Chelsea has around five million fans in Thailand, and certainly all of these young programme participants are our fans. As a team representative, I am really delighted to visit Thailand and coach these youngsters. Though we are here for only a short time, I hope all the young people we coach will grow up smartly and realise their promise, possibly becoming future footballers with the national team. Probably I will see some of them playing as members of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge Stadium in the next few years.”

There are six of Chelsea’s coaching staff devoting themselves to the Chelsea Youth Football Clinic in Thailand: Steve Winnett as Head Coach, James Phillips, Gareth Davies, Sam Hubert, Kane cowburn, and Julian Hart. Screening of the qualified participants was recently designed, controlled and managed by Kiattisak ‘Zico’ Senamuang.
