International Data Corporation (IDC) has been named joint winner of the 2012 Global Analyst Firm of the Year by the Institute of Industry Analyst Relations (IIAR).

The award is based on a survey of more than 200 analyst relations (AR) professionals from across the globe. Participants were asked to rate the leading analyst firms using 15 criteria, ranging from "Breadth and Depth of Research Coverage" to "Quality of Research and Advice" and "Value for the Money". The average score across all criteria was used to provide an overall rating. Separate categories were used to allow for more equitable comparisons between the larger, global firms and smaller firms.

Among the criteria, IDC received the top scores for the breadth and depth of its geographic research coverage as well as its vertical research coverage. IDC also received high marks from the survey participants on the depth and breadth of its technology coverage as well as the quality of its research and advice. In addition, IDC was highly rated in four criteria that measure the ease of doing business with the company.

"On behalf of our 1,000+ research analysts worldwide, IDC is honored to earn this recognition from the analyst relations community," said Kirk Campbell, President & CEO of IDC. "The criteria used to evaluate the firms provide a good measure not only of each firms' products, but also their ability to work as a valued partner with clients. IDC has always focused on working closely with customers to help them make fact-based decisions to grow their businesses."

The IIAR is a not-for-profit organization established to raise awareness of analyst relations and the value of industry analysts, promote best practice amongst analyst relations professionals, enhance communication between analyst firms and vendors, and offer opportunities for AR practitioners to network with their industry peers.
