Following the immense success of the campaign’s first year, Mitsubishi Elevator (Thailand) continues its commitment to promote elevator safety in schools with their second year of the “Caring for Kids” event. The company plans to take the campaign to 30 schools around the Bangkok vicinity. Students in grade 1 – 3 will get to participate in fun activities, learn about basic safety rules of elevator and escalator use through hand puppet characters especially designed to convey the key messages, and take home Mitsubishi Elevator storybooks to enjoy later with their parents.

Mr. Tatsuo Matsuoka, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Elevator (Thailand), revealed that “Caring for Kids” by Mitsubishi Elevator was realized in 2013 with an aim to help children learn the basic rules of safely using elevators and escalators and to eliminate preventable accidents and injuries caused by misuse. As Thailand’s authorized distributor and service provider for elevators, escalators and moving walks, under the brand “Mitsubishi”, the company naturally considers safety its number one priority. During its second year, the campaign is expanding the project to more students in 30 schools around the Bangkok vicinity, as it was a huge success in all the schools visited last year.

“In its first year, Mitsubishi Elevator (Thailand) introduced the ‘Caring for Kids’ campaign to ten Bangkok schools to raise awareness among parents and the society at large about the importance of elevator and escalator safety because accidents involving these machines still occur due to reckless use and negligence by users. The target audience is first to third graders, around 7 – 9 years of age, who are naturally inquisitive and eager learn new things from hands-on interaction. They are also at the age where parents often encourage independent learning, which is why they are the most at risk group for accidents. This year, we have as many as 30 schools across Greater Bangkok area participating in the project. Our presentation and activities are redesigned to better suit the audience, from 3D animation to hand puppets and live performance by campaign mascots and characters,” Mr. Tatsuo Matsuoka explained.

Ms. Ampai Buranapantaroek, a 1st grade teacher from Srieam Anusorn School, Bangna, Bangkok, said that she was very pleased with the ‘Caring for Kids – Season 2’. It was such a well-designed event that offered students a lot fun while learning about elevator and escalator safety. The campaign’s innovative presentation using the puppets enabled them to remember the key messages much better.

“This campaign benefits not only the students but also teachers. We all learned a lot about how to prevent the risk of accidents from improper use of elevators and escalators. Many thanks to Mitsubishi Elevator for bringing this great event to our school,” said Ms. Ampai.

A 1st grade student from Srieam Anusorn School, Netdow Khampromma, said that she was very excited with all the activities and had a lot of fun participating in the event. “I love the character, Tonkla, who showed us how we are not supposed to use an umbrella to press the buttons in an elevator, or jump while inside one. When we are on an escalator, we have to firmly grab the handrail, and, no matter what, we mustn’t sit on it. I will tell everyone at home about it so we can all be safe the next time we visit a shopping mall,” said Netdow.

‘Caring for Kids by Mitsubishi Elevator’ puppet and live performance focuses on creating a happy learning experience for children through edutainment and simulation. The company has prepared a variety of informative materials and fun activities to enhance the learning process. Students will have their comprehension checked using a sequence of fun games that features all crucial information presented. And at the end of the event, they will be given the “Elevator and Escalator: Always a Safe Ride with Mitsubishi” storybook so they can study the information again with teachers’ or parents’ guidance.

Mitsubishi Elevator (Thailand) Co., Ltd. sincerely wishes to see Thai children use elevators and escalators safely, correctly, and with confidence from now on. With every party’s concerted effort in bringing about quality products, combined with meticulous installation and maintenance, ‘Safety’ will become a remarkable trend that will surely benefit the society as a whole.
