Boys’ Festival, or Tango-no-Sekku, is a major event in the Japanese calendar when families decorate samurai dolls to ensure good health for their boys and they fly carp-shaped streamers from flag poles to symbolise success.

Yamazato, the award-winning signature Japanese restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok, celebrates Tango-no-Sekku with Gozen set lunch and Kaiseki set dinner menus from 25 April to 5 May 2015.

The Gozen lunch, priced at Baht 850++ per set, includes grilled snowfish with miso; a simmered comprising eggplant, potato, pumpkin, carrot and Sakura shrimp with a creamy sauce and tofu skin. There is also a tempura dish of deep-fried young sweetfish, shrimp and vegetables.

The Kaiseki dinner, priced at Baht 3,000++ per set, comprises seven courses including grilled sea bream in soup with leeks, peppers and vegetables; sashimi of tuna belly with spear squid, horse mackerel and surf clam; grilled alfonsino with kiwi dressing, tomato, eryngii mushrooms, eggplant, asparagus and parsley; and a simmered dish of sea bream head in thick soy sauce with bamboo shoots and ginger.

“The Gozen set lunch and Kaiseki set dinner are fitting tributes to this important day in the life of Japanese families,” says Yamazato Master Chef Shigeru Hagiwara.

Prices are subject to 10% service charge and 7% government tax.
