Launched in France during the Summer Solstice of 1982, summer cheer transforms the streets of Paris into the world's biggest performance stage as hundreds of musicians gather to celebrate the joy of music in all its varied styles. As a leading French hotelier, Sofitel plays an active role to promote and celebrate this major cultural event around the world. From Paris to London, Berlin, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and Shanghai, more than 121 Sofitel hotels in 92 countries will join together to rejoice with good music and joie de vivre on the longest day of summer.

Across Asia, Sofitel hotels will be holding unique musical events to mark this special occasion. Each hotel will commemorate Fête de la Musique in its own individual way, mixing French tradition with the very best of local culture.

To celebrate the international Fête de la Musique on Tuesday 21 June, 2016, S Gallery at Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit welcomes art lovers to join us for a chic evening soiree with live music and a new art exhibition, 'Oneness' by Sarawut Yasamut, from 5:30pm – 10pm. Our new art exhibition will open to coincide with the global celebration, Fête de la Musique.

Nini and the Plajazz Band will jazz up your evening and get you swingin' with a dazzling repertoire of tunes while you enjoy inspiring art by Sarawut Yasamut. Guests will also enjoy a special welcome cocktail and delicious light canapes in the lobby. Art lovers and VIPs will then be invited to view the exhibition in S Gallery.

The solo exhibition is a showcase for the work of Sarawut Yasamut, a talented Thai artist with Master Degree in Fine Arts from Thailand's renowned Silpakorn University. In his exhibition, Sarawut illustrates the concept of always being connected online, his paintings ironically portray the digital through traditional painting techniques.

Sarawut Yasamut said, "Through this exhibition, I would like to show the transformation of my emotions and feelings as a result of my obsession with online media. I have expressed my feelings through a collection of oil paintings in a frenzy of swift and powerful brush strokes to depict the state of my emotions and feelings at different points in time"

Sarawut Yasamut's imaginative exhibition of 'Oneness' displays colorful modes, pixilated imagery and significant correlation with today's generation and one that will resonate with many Bangkokians. By showcasing this modern art, it also shows how S Gallery has its finger firmly on the pulse of the vibrant Bangkok art scene.

Mr.Marshall Orton, Executive Assistant Manager of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, said recently, "S Gallery is the only art gallery in a 5-star Bangkok hotel. Sarawut's art is the perfect complement to perfomers at Fête de la Musique. The two art forms will create a compelling evening for our guests. We look forward to a truly magnifique evening of art and music."

Sarawut Yasamut's creative work will be displayed at S Gallery until 6 September 2016.

Oneness Art Exhibition by Mr. Sarawut Yasamut at S Gallery

The way of life of human beings in modern society has become so undeniably intertwined with technology media that it now plays an ever more significant role in our everyday life. Thanks to the advancement of the Internet, we now live in a boundaryless and globalised world in which people in different parts of the globe are able to connect with each other easily through a new online platform called "social media". Suddenly it's now possible to talk to anybody anytime we want. Given the increasingly blurred boundary between the real world and the virtual world, many of us find it hard to avoid the trappings of the digital age like information overload, which could be uncontrollable at times. It looks as if this formless and intangible online world kept pulling our souls in. But it's true that some people have derived greater happiness from it than the real world even.

Titled "Oneness", this art exhibition is a perfect fusion of online and real worlds. It is also a virtual representation of oneness with emotions and feelings. This virtual sphere is a reflection of human feelings. These days more and more people gravitate towards the virtual realm than the real world itself. The point is those around us in the physical world cannot tickle our fancy the way the denizens of the virtual world can. The virtual experience is like a retreat from reality into a world of delusion in which it's easy to forget our appropriate real-world role as human beings for a while.

Every time we want to express ourselves or convey our inner feelings, we always log onto the Internet and take pleasure in the virtual world. Our feelings as expressed on social media might be real or unreal on occasion because it is highly likely that we will allow our online expressions to be so coloured by our personal feelings and thoughts that it is impossible to tell the difference between real and unreal. Regardless, the virtual world provides an avenue for the expression of self-identity of the electronic generation in our society these days.
