GOLD.. Symbol of Prosperity

The Department of Thai Gastronomy, Dusit Thani Hotel School, is organising the 7th OPEN HOUSE on Saturday 20 August 2016 from 2pm to 4pm at the school. Another exciting cooking demonstration by Executive Master Chef Rapeepat Boriboon, better known as Chef A, will take place : the making of the Golden Drips (Thong-Yod), the Golden Flowers (Thong-Yib) and the Golden Silk Threads (Foy-Thong). These Thai desserts were brought into Thailand in the 17th century by the Portuguese during the reign of King Narai the Great. And, because of their GOLD colour which is symbolic of good fortune, they are made for auspicious occasions like weddings, birthdays, house-warming, merit-making ceremonies.

In addition, those applying for the 60-hour "Traditional Thai Food and Thai Desserts" course at the Open House day would get a big discount of 20%! The next weekday classes start on Monday 29 August through to Friday 23 September 2016 while the Saturday classes will run from Saturday 17 September to 17 December 2016.
