Through yoga, clothing, royal foundation and temple giving, Museflower Retreat & Spa strengthens its ties with the local community with a range of donation activities.

A number of recent events mark a series of opportunities for Museflower to provide support to their Chiang Rai community.

In recognition of its donation of THB 20,000 to the Princess Mother's Medical Volunteer (PMMV) Foundation, Museflower Retreat & Spa was awarded a medal of appreciation by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn on Feb 26th 2017. Museflower director Mr.Nikom Kamlue and assistant manager Mr. Suparurk Chaichompoo went to receive a medal from HRH Princess Chulabhorn.

For this year's recent World Yoga Day, twenty-three outside guests joined eight in house guests to celebrate the day by joining meditation and yoga classes led by Museflower resident practitioner team Ms. Watchararat Srichamroen and Ms. Kanlayanee Martthuean. A delicious vegetarian lunch picked fresh from the retreat's on site organic farm ended the day. Through contributions from guests and staff, the event raised USD 300 that was donated to SyrienHilfe the charity supported by World Yoga Day.

After a year-end clothing drive to collect clothes for hill tribe villagers, Museflower Retreat's team led by founder and owner Tania Ho went to visit the Lahu hill tribe village Ban Santor in Tambon Huai Chompoo, A. Muang, Chiang Rai, located about 53 km away from the retreat, high up in the mountains. Besides collecting used clothing from guests and staff, the donation included used books and toys for the children. Museflower also bought supplies such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, medicine, water, juices, and snacks for the villagers. Museflower was able to contact this village thanks to the village school teacher Ms. Arpakorn Boonpandi who was a friend of the retreat staff member. The school in Ban Santor village is part of the Department of non-formal education in Thailand.

The fun day with the hill tribe villagers started with bringing the clothing donation and supplies to the village, followed by home cooked lunch at the village headman's traditional bamboo house. Lunch was a delicious chicken soup, stir fried green beans and vegetable with chili paste. After lunch, the Museflower group took a tour of the village, which has about 200 inhabitants, and then returned home to Chiang Rai.

Museflower also made a donation to its local community temple by supplying a cold storage freezer for the morgue, which was needed for funeral services. This was organized by Museflower director Mr.Nikom Kamlue.
