Bangkok--18 Jun--ABM

Boots Thailand, a leading international pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer, raised two million baht from donation boxes in Boots stores from September 2017 to May 2018 from customers and Boots employees for Baan Gerda, a children's charity that provides homes and support for orphans with HIV and AIDS. This is the fifth time that Boots Thailand is supporting Baan Gerda. The donation ceremony was led by Mr. Ian Blythe (third from right), Head of CSR – Global Wholesale and Retail Pharmacy International, Walgreens Boots Alliance; Mr. Glen Pietrandoni (third from left), the Senior Director, Patient Care and Advocacy of Walgreens; and

Ms. Patwarin Purichjaroenpong (second from left) HR Director, Boots Retail (Thailand) Ltd., together with Boots employees. Along with the funds for Baan Gerda, the company also recently donated homecare and Boots healthcare products to provide a healthy environment for children at Baan Gerda, Lopburi. Ms. Kwanjai Sarnswang, (center), Secretary of Baan Gerda, was on hand to receive the charitable donation at Baan Gerda.

About Baan Gerda

Baan Gerda is a small community 230 km north of Bangkok, where more than 90 HIV-positive and affected orphans live and receive medical treatment in family homes under the care of foster parents. This project is part of the Children's Rights Foundation. Children orphaned by AIDS who are HIV-positive often end up in tragic situations. They are less likely than others to find shelter with their extended families, and can be outcasts in their own communities. Baan Gerda provides family-style homes for orphans, as well as comprehensive HIV care. We believe this structure plays a critical role in the recovery and continued health of our children. All of the children attend school or kindergarten, while their foster parents engage in housekeeping and handicraft production.
