Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, has officially launched Huawei ICT Competition 2018 - 2019 in Thailand, attracting over 2,200 university students across the country. Under the theme Connection - Glory - Future, the competition, in its second edition, is being held to embrace the ICT ecosystem worldwide, while incubating a new pool of high-quality ICT talents to support Thailand's development towards the digital era.

The Huawei ICT Competition 2018-2019 is being carried out in several rounds: preliminary, national final and global final. Throughout the event, enriching activities are being organized such as roadshows, training and lectures, to enable participants to explore and learn the latest ICT technologies, products and trends.

By the end of January, the top 200 students selected through the online screening will be qualified to join the Huawei Camp Thailand Competition in February. Here, they will go through 3 days of intensive training and testing for Huawei Certified Network Associate -Routing and Switching (HCNA-R&S), and be exposed to and work with the latest ICT knowledge.

The top 3 participants will then form the team that will represent Thailand in the Global Final to be held in Shenzhen, China in May 2019. They will have the chance to win exclusive prizes including a trip to enhance ICT knowledge and expand cultural experiences, as well as the opportunity to work at Huawei.

Mr Paboth Kraikritayakul, a member of the winning team last year from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang said "This is a good opportunity for me to participate in such a much-awaiting competition for students in ICT field, which allows me to broaden my experiences. It is also a journey to explore the latest ICT technologies and innovative products, and to understand the latest industry trends."

Mr. William Wang, Vice President, Enterprise Service of Huawei Southeast Asia Region, said "At Huawei, innovation and technology have always been the core of our business. Every year, we create breakthroughs products and services as we aim to make life better by being a driver for a better connected world. With high-quality ICT talent, we will be able to fulfill our commitment, so this competition is a platform to explore the new generation of future partners who can drive the country's digital transformation as well as the growth of a robust and sustainable ICT ecosystem worldwide."

As part of Huawei's effort to enrich the talent ecosystem, Huawei ICT Competition explores innovative development modes, and plays a critical role in promoting ICT technologies, developing talent, and bridging the talent gap. Huawei continues to reinforce the strategy of "platform + ecosystem", and to team up with partners to build an open, flexible, agile and secure platform that will ultimately bring digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected, intelligent world.
