Bangkok Bank joins Thammasat University to promote Thai education for sustainable development in personnel, educational institutions and management systems

Bangkok Bank signed an MoU with Thammasat University to increase the efficiency of teachers in Pracharath schools with the "Creating Inspirational Teachers to Ignite the Spark of Learning" and the "Co-development Schools" projects. These will support sustainable development in "personnel, educational institutions and management systems".

Bangkok Bank Senior Executive Vice President Ruchanee Nopmuang said that the Bank signed an MoU with Thammasat University for the "Creating Inspirational Teachers to Ignite the Spark of Learning" project. This aims to increase the efficiency of teachers and educational personnel in Pracharath schools so that they can bring about changes in Thailand's education system. The Bank also signed an MoU for "Co-development Schools". This involves working with other sectors to turn educational institutions into centers for lifetime learning as well as providing communities with skills and quality of life development. The Bank selected Wat Niwet Wuttharam School (Bangkok Bank 24) in Nakhon Sawan province and Ban Bang Mak School (Bangkok Bank 22) in Trang province which were Pracharath schools in the CONNEXT ED Phase 1, to join this project.

"The Bank recognizes the importance of sustainable development in education. As such, we are providing educational opportunities for Thai children so that they will grow up to be quality personnel for the country. As education is one focus of the bank's social activities it is supporting these two projects that will help develop personnel, educational institutions and management systems for Thai society. At the same time, Thai youth will gain educational opportunities going forward," said Mrs Ruchanee.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anuchart Puongsomlee, Dean of Faculty of Learning Science and Education, Thammasat University, said the university worked with many parties to develop the "Creating Inspirational Teachers to Ignite the Spark of Learning" project. We realize that the educational system is complex and requires collaboration from many parties to drive

changes in structure, policy, management, process and social opinion. At the same time, teachers are vital change agents within the educational system, who will support children to
grow up to be pillars of Thai society."
Thammasat University's Faculty of Learning Science and Education focuses on developing teachers who can pioneer active learning, and create meaningful, happy and lively
classrooms. Professional Learning Community (PLC) will support teachers to be change agents using learning process that create engagement through experiences to build skills, knowledge, and expertise.

The Co-Development School project aims to drive education at the school, network and policy levels with a focus on creating a mutual vision. The educational ecosystem will be developed with engagement from the community, school and other collaborative networks. Four strategies comprise:

1) Develop quality of learners in terms of learning achievement, life skills and occupation development
2) Develop quality of teachers and educational personnel in terms of knowledge, skills and competency, as well as the spirit of teachers that promote learners' knowledge

3) Develop quality of educational institutions by developing curriculum, educational media and management processes to be modern, suitable to locations and to increase the efficiency of learners in the 21 st century

4) Develop quality of management in order to create a good management system, good governance while engaging with various parties both internally and externally to build a learning ecosystem that is conducive to holistic development
