MHL 3.0 Adapters Provide the Critical Link to Enable Premium Features Including 4K Ultra HD Resolution

Johnson Components & Equipments Co., Ltd. (JCE) today announced the availability of the industry's first MHL(R) 3.0 certified adapter to connect MHL-enabled mobile devices to any TV with an HDMI(R) port. The adapters are based on the latest MHL 3.0 standard supporting up to 4K UHD resolution, and backwards compatible with MHL 1.0 and MHL 2.0 devices. These adapters have been released under JCE's global Avier brand and, in the future, will also be available to OEMs who would like to sell an MHL 3.0 adapter under their own brands.

"JCE was one of the earliest MHL Adopters, providing high quality and compliant accessories through our Avier brand to consumers and to leading OEMs," said Paul Hsu, CEO of JCE. "We are the first to market with our MHL 3.0 adapter because we believe in the growth of MHL 3.0 mobile devices and accessories. We look forward to enabling consumers to connect their MHL 3.0 smartphones or tablets to Ultra HD TVs."

JCE's MHL 3.0 adapters support:
-- 4K Ultra HD resolution
-- Fast power charging up to 10W
-- Unpowered adapter mode without external charger
-- HDCP 2.2 content protection for transmission of 4K UHD premium content
-- EMI compliant
-- Remote Control Protocol (RCP), allowing the TV's remote to control the mobile device
-- Enhanced 7.1 surround sound with Dolby(R) TrueHD and DTS-HD
-- Backward compatibility with all MHL 1.0 and MHL 2.0 devices

"We appreciate JCE's commitment to MHL technology by producing MHL certified cables and adapters. These MHL 3.0 adapters are an industry first and an important piece of the MHL ecosystem, providing the critical link between MHL smartphones and tablets and HDMI displays to deliver advanced features such as 4K Ultra HD resolution and enhanced 7.1 surround sound," said Rob Tobias, president, MHL, LLC.

The Avier MHL 3.0 adapter will be available for retail at the end of October 2014 with a manufacturer suggested retail price of $30 USD. These adapters will be available for purchase in various retail stores and online at PChome, Yahoo! Taiwan, Rakuten Japan, etc.
