Thailand has long been considered a leader in Information Technology products and services. Ranked 6th on the A.T. Kearney Global Services Location Index, which is based on a country's financial attractiveness, people skills and availability and business environment, Thailand is facing serious competition from Malaysia (ranked 3rd), Indonesia (ranked 5th), the Philippines (ranked 7th) and Vietnam (ranked 12th). The academic partnership between Aware and CAMT has been formed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and its application in the working world. This will ensure the skills developed by students over the course of their university education improve the innovation and competiveness of Thailand’s IT industry.

Thailand’s IT sector is expected to grow 7.2% to $22.4 billion this year, and universities are aiming to produce 50,000 business technology students per year to support Thailand's growing IT sector.

“This partnership is an investment in the future of IT in Thailand. We place a great deal of importance on the development of IT talent. We’ve been a part of Chiang Mai’s technology community for over 14 years, and it’s a great pleasure to work with educational organizations like CAMT, who share our passion for strengthening Chiang Mai’s growing reputation as Thailand’s digital hub.” said Steven Prussky, Aware’s Founder and Managing Director.

“Across almost all industries there are a number of technical skillsets that are in high demand, in particular Cloud Computing, Business Intelligence, Mobile Development, and Software Testing. There’s already so much demand for software engineers, Thailand probably has eight-to-ten positions open for every qualified software engineer. And growth isn’t slowing; you can expect to see a wide range of new jobs opening up in these skillsets across all industry sectors. The demand will have a huge impact on IT training and universities. Our role in this partnership is to work with Chiang Mai University to help develop programs and training courses that meet the growing IT needs of Thailand and the rest of the world.” said Dan Sronchaiprasith, Aware’s Test Manager.

“This MOU is a strong commitment between both parties to work cooperatively and share knowledge, experiences and resources to achieve our goal.” said Dr. Worawit Chanchai, CAMT.

Dr. Chanchai, expanded “Aware has the readiness, proficiency, experience, and resource to work with academic institutes. CAMT, in particular, has a vision to shape graduates with the competencies Aware specializes in. The leaders of CAMT are behind this partnership and believe a strong partnership will benefit the future of human resource development for the software industry.” said Dr. Worawit Chanchai, CAMT.
