THNICF and BKNIX are hosting “BKNIX Peering Forum 2016” Ready to Enter the Age of Digital Economy

VIE Hotel Bangkok, 9th May 2016: Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNICF) and Bangkok Neutral Internet exchange (BKNIX) are holding the first conference on the management of Mekong regional internet network under the name "BKNIX Peering Forum 2016" in order for the internet entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia to share their views on the internet connection and data exchange, to enhance the efficiency of internet services, and to prepare themselves for the age of digital economy.

Dr. Gothom Arya, Chairman of THNICF, said, "Upon the first anniversary of services by Bangkok Neutral Internet Exchange Point (BKNIX) under the supervision of Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNICF), the first neutral internet exchange in Thailand and in this region, we are going to host "BKNIX Peering Forum 2016", which will gather more than 100 participants from both local and international internet circle. The participants will have opportunities to share and update new technologies, and discuss on the policies of regional and global network connection through the seminars during this 2-day event." Dr. Gothom also expressed the gratitude to all the local and international allies who have contribution to this event, i.e. APNIC, NBTC, ISOC, Facebook, TCC Technology, Nokia Thailand, Akamai Technologies, INET, Netnod, NSRC, UniNet and CS Loxinfo.

Prof. Dr. Kanchana Kanchanasut, Vice Chairman of THNICF , the first Thai national to be inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame, in the 'Pioneer' category by the Internet Society, and the pioneer of BKNIX added, "The objective of BKNIX is to bring about the improvement of internet management in Thailand while reducing the costs thereof. It is a propitious sign that "BKNIX Peering Forum 2016" has got a lot of attention from local and international service providers and others involved. This has proved that the world has realized the significance of collaboration to strengthen and enhance the quality of internet infrastructure. In addition, it is an opportunity for BLNIX to develop its potential so as to accommodate the extension of internet usage in Thailand and in this region."
