Rossini’s award-winning Italian restaurant at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, together with Italasia will host the exceptional Batasiolo Wine Dinner on Friday 25th February, 2011.

Diners are invited to experience a memorable evening of authentic Italian cuisine prepared by our gifted chef, Stefano Merlo. His exquisite and creative menu will be complimented by an outstanding selection of Batasiolo wines served in the enchanting surroundings of Rossini’s award-winning restaurant.

Founded in 1910 by the Dogliani family, the vineyards of Beni di Batasiolo lie nestled in the heart of Piedmont, northern Italy. The nine estates that form part of this extraordinary property are renowned as the home of refined Barolo wines. As an ambassador of Italian winemaking excellence, Batasiolo’s multi-award-winning wines are appreciated around the globe. Accolades include six awards in Wine Spectator Magazine’s Top 100 Wines of the World. Batasiolo wines have also received gold medals from Decanter Magazine on many occasions, and the winery is included in the Wine & Food Guide as one of the Top 120 Producers of the World.

The Batasiolo Wine Dinner will begin with Chef Stefano’s delightful savory bites and 7 Cascine Prosecco Extra Dry Spumante, NV, a full-bodied sparkling wine with an aromatic bouquet and well-balanced taste.

The five-course meal will start with capesanta in crosta di pane con bietole al cardamone, seared scallop in a crust of bread with cardamom-scented beetroot. The delicious appetizer will be paired with Batasiolo, Langhe Chardonnay Serbato DOC, 2009, an elegant straw-yellow wine with a fruity bouquet.

The second dish, risotto alla Matriciana, risotto Matriciana style will be served with Batasiolo, Dolcetto d’Alba doc, Bricco di Vergne, 2009. Made using indigenous Dolcetto grapes fermented on the skins, the notable wine displays great balance and personality and is the perfect match for Chef Stefano’s authentic dish.

Other highlights on this extraordinary menu will include cinghiale brasato con polenta, uvetta e cicoria, braised wild pork, soft polenta, and raisin and dandelion leaves served with Batasiolo, Barolo, Vigneto Cerequio DOCG, 2004. This outstanding wine offers bright notes of cherry and blackberry followed by warm tones of vanilla, spice, liquorice and smoke, and pairs perfectly with Chef Stefano’s inspired dish.

The unforgettable evening ends with pan di spagna alle mele, a light golden sponge cake with golden apple matched with Batasiolo, Moscato d’ Asti Bosc d’la Rei DOCG, 2009 followed by coffee, tea and biscotti.
