Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) advises passengers with connecting flights to check the baggage allowance with each air carrier every time they travel in order to avoid excess baggage charges for journeys involving multiple carriers.

Mr. Pandit Chanapai, THAI Executive Vice President for Commercial, said that the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) recently announced changes to Free Baggage Allowance that applies to all tickets issued from 1 April 2011 onwards. For customer convenience, THAI advises passengers who have connecting flights or multiple flights with different carriers to check the baggage allowance permitted by each connecting air carrier, as the amount permitted varies per carrier.

THAI continues to maintain the same baggage allowance as always, whereby Royal First Class passengers are allowed 40 kilograms of check-in baggage, Royal Silk Class are allowed 30 kilograms, and Economy Class passengers are allowed 20 kilograms. . For passengers flying to and from USA, baggage allowance is based on piece-concept. US inbound and outbound passengers on THAI Royal First Class and Royal Silk Class are allowed to check-in two pieces (32 kilograms each); THAI Economy Class passengers are allowed to check-in two pieces (23 kilograms each).
