SeaDream Yacht Club’s Activities Directors, Jeff Fithian and Colin Howell present five of SeaDream’s most spirited Mediterranean Land Adventures. These guys ought to know, they’ve “been there-done that”, having sailed all over the Mediterranean numerous times aboard the line’s twin mega-yachts, SeaDream I & II.

The Mediterranean is laden with historical sites, alluring beaches, captivating countryside and divine food and wine - all the ingredients for an abundant selection of unique Adventures ashore. SeaDream looks to hire top guides and provides Adventure options for the history buff, the gourmand and the thrill seeker. These five SeaDream favorites do require active participation.

1. KORCULA ISLAND BUGGY SAFARI (Korcula, Croatia)

Experience Korcula Island in a 2-seater convertible buggy: It’s an exciting off-road Adventure where guests feel the breeze in their hair, savor the scenery of olive groves and vineyards as they explore coastal gravel roads above ?rnovo and Lumbarda village which offer a magnificent view of nearby islands. They’ll stop to swim and snorkel in two different secret hidden bays of the sparkling Adriatic Sea.

2. CYCLADIC CUISINE - "HANDS-ON" GREEK COOKING (Santorini, Greece)

This Adventure takes place in a beautiful, traditional Santorini settlement, the village of Megalochori. In a charming restaurant located within an old traditional mansion, guests sip Santorinian wine while the chef and his team give a brief introduction to Cycladic Island cuisine, particularly the local products like capers, fava (small yellow peas), cherry tomatoes and local cheeses. This interactive “hands on” cooking class has guests preparing an entire Greek menu; appetizers, salad, main course and dessert. Once the dishes are prepared, guests sit on the relaxing veranda and enjoy their meal.

3. RAFTING ON THE CETINA RIVER (Split, Croatia)

A scenic journey from Split brings guests to the beautiful countryside along the banks of the Cetina River. Those with an Adventurous spirit and love for untouched nature will enjoy this rafting experience and the magnificent canyons, waterfalls and lush vegetation surrounding the Cetina. Experienced skippers accompany guests throughout the trip. After the rafting excitement, guests head to the Radmanove Mlinice restaurant for refreshments and lunch before returning to Split.(The Cetina River rafting is rated as Class 2-3 rapids, which can involve waves up to 4 feet and rapids requiring some maneuvering of the raft.)

4. THE SPLENDIDO'S ITALIAN CUISINE - A TASTE OF TRADITION (Portofino, Italy)

Experience the cuisine of the world-famous and uber-exclusive Splendido Hotel with a small group of fellow SeaDream travelers. This magnificent landmark overlooks the picturesque harbor of one Italy's most renowned resort enclaves. SeaDream has arranged for the Maitre d’h?tel to meet with guests and explain the many uses and varieties of olive oil. Guests taste regional varieties of oil and learn how each is used in the preparation of delicious Italian dishes. Afterwards, guests enjoy a splendid luncheon of Italian specialties prepared with olive oil.

5. CINQUE TERRE: DON’T GO HOME WITHOUT IT! (Portovenere, Italy)

So beautiful, the five (“Cinque”) picturesque villages were named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Clinging to the Ligurian cliffs on the west coast of Italy are five little villages at nearly the same distance from one another: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. By private motor launch, this Adventure allows guests to see them as the ancient mariners did - from the sea. The breathtaking villages of pastel-colored houses and terraced vineyards are suspended above the sea. A guided walk along the cliffs and through the villages points out the highlights including sampling of local wines and focaccia bread.
