Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia, remarked that business in Myanmar is growing at an exponential rate as it has become the main focus of the region and the world. He pointed out that Thailand is a major trading partner with the country and its companies and investors continue to enter into Myanmar daily, especially into Nay Pyi Taw, the nation's capital, with its political as well as economic significance. AirAsia has acknowledged that opening a route between Bangkok and Nay Pyi Taw would be crucial to fostering Myanmar's financial development and the economic ties between Thailand and its neighbour.

"AirAsia is the first and only low-fare airline to serve this route. We will be operating the 1 hour flights with our 180-seat fleet of brand-new Airbus A320s so that our passengers can always be confident they will receive the utmost in comfort, safety and cost effectiveness. The flights will depart from Don Mueang Airport, making them especially convenient for travelers coming from the city".
