The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has hosted Chef Andy Ricker, one of the United States' most celebrated chefs of Thai cuisine and Thailand's first Amazing Thailand Culinary Ambassador, to the kingdom to film the second season of the popular Thai-Licious Journey web series.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor said, "The Thai-Licious Journey web series is part of the TAT's increasing focus on gastronomy tourism, and perfectly illustrates how trying Thai cuisine and the many different dishes on offer throughout the kingdom is an ideal way to also experience the unique Thai culture and ways of life."

He added, "The Thai-Licious Journey project also goes superbly with the TAT's new marketing concept called Open to the New Shades of Thailand, which supports the Amazing Thailand brand and places emphasis on new perspectives of the kingdom."

The Thai-Licious Journey series focuses on travel and food, and the many wonderful culinary experiences that visitors can have while travelling around Thailand. So from 24 October to 2 November, Chef Andy Ricker has been doing this, on a culinary adventure, which has taken him to Chanthaburi, Trat and Chumphon to film some uniquely intriguing and tantalising escapades for the Season Two.

In Chanthaburi, the journey highlighted the quaint Chanthaboon Riverside Community, the beautiful Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the fresh morning market, and a cooking experience of local dishes; such as, Chantaburi-style Fried Noodle with Crab, Stir-fried Fish with Krawan Stem, Pork Curry with Chamuang Leaves, and Hot and Sour Soup with Chicken and Snake Fruit.

In Trat, the itinerary featured the old Bang Phra Canal community, Soi Rai Rung morning market and Ban Huai Raeng community as well as a trip to harvest Nipa Palm mangrove forest plant for cooking. Many delightful local dishes were also highlighted during the trip, including Rice Wrapped in Betel Palm Leaves, and Khanom Chak or a Coconut Sweet Rice Flour dessert.

In Chumphon, the trip visited the Bang Son community to try and taste local delicacies made with horn snails, and some local famous restaurants for culinary experiences; such as, Spicy Coconut Curry with Pork Ribs and Green Finger Lady Bananas, Thai-style Omelette with Bai Liang leaves, and Salted Fish Stir-fried with Coconut. The last episode for the season was filmed at Khao Matri featuring the beautiful landscape of this seaside province.

The new episodes are scheduled to broadcast on social media channels of the TAT's New York and Los Angeles Offices in April next year.
While in Thailand this time around, Chef Andy Ricker also hosted a Thai-Licious Fanclub Dinner at E.Pochana Seafood Restaurant on 2 November.

Andy Ricker is the chef and owner of the Pok Pok restaurants, with branches in Portland and NYC, which has recently received the Bib Gourmand Awards for the 2018 MICHELIN Guide New York City. He is also the founder and owner of Pok Pok Som – a drinking vinegar company – and a partner in Pok Pok Thaan – a charcoal importing enterprise. Among his various achievements and accolades are two Time James Beard Awards and best selling cookbook author.
