TOURISM MALAYSIA KICKS OFF INSPIRING MALAYSIA TRAVEL SHOWCASE 2017 TRAVEL FAIR IN HATYAI, THAILAND

Tourism Malaysia holds the Inspiring Malaysia Travel Showcase 2017 (IMTS 2017) Travel Fair from November 30th to December 3rd at Central Festival Mall in Hat Yai, highlighting Malaysia as the ultimate destination for food, tourism, resorts, theme parks and cultural attractions with the advantage of its close proximity to the south of Thailand which can be reached by various modes of transportation.

The key officials at the opening ceremony are Consul General of Malaysia in Songkla, Mr. Mohd Afandi Abu Bakar and Deputy Director General (Promotion), Tourism Malaysia, YBHG Dato' Sri Abdul Khani Daud, who preside over the launching of Inspiring Malaysia Travel Showcase 2017 among travel agents and all tourism industry sectors of both Thai and Malaysian including media and visitors at Central Festival Mall in Hat Yai.

Consul General of Malaysia in Songkla, Mr. Mohd Afandi Abu Bakar, states his positive outlook on outbound tourism from Thailand to Malaysia.

"Malaysia has many things to offer, from shopping destinations, theme parks, resorts, to unique cultural attractions," says YBHG Dato' Sri Abdul Khani Daud. "Moreover, thanks to our continuous effort and cooperation with Thailand, tourists from Thailand can choose from many routes of transport to explore Malaysia: from air travel, train routes, ferry routes, to using the road."

Deputy Director General (Promotion), Tourism Malaysia, YBHG Dato' Sri Abdul Khani Daud says "From January to August of 2017, Malaysia received positive growth of total 1,235,706 Thai tourists, an increase of 5.9% as compared to the same period of 2016, with the number projected to continue rising in the near future. At this event, many organizations have come together to offer special incentives for travelers to Malaysia, whether they are families, leisure-seekers, shoppers or foodies."

At IMTS 2017, visitors can expect special deals, promotions, services, and holiday packages for the upcoming year-end holidays. Moreover, to provide a taste for Malaysian-style entertainment, the famous Briged Seni Melaka group will be performing traditional music and other cultural shows for visitors at the event along with other stage activities and games.

This year, Tourism Malaysia continues to use the theme 'Malaysia Truly Asia' to be promoted along with #ThaiPaiMalaysia (ไทยไปมาเลเซีย) to encourage Thai tourists to mark Malaysia as a preferred holiday destination for family and friends.

Exhibitors participating at IMTS 2017 include Tourism Malaysia, AirAsia (Thailand), Kuala Lumpur Tourism Bureau, Shopping Secretariat Malaysia, Tourism Melaka, Panorama Lankawi, LADA Eco Tourism, Sunway Theme Parks, Dorset Hospitality International, Malayan Railways Limited, and Thanaphat Tour Ferry Service.
