Inaugural AirAsia “Hua Hin-Kuala Lumpur” Flight Warmly Welcomed Kicks Off 4 Weekly Flights

AirAsia Berhad (Malaysia) launched direct flights from Hua Hin of Thailand's Prachuap Khiri Khan province to Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia on 18 May 2018, introducing 4 flights weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) connecting the resort town to Malaysia's economic and cultural center in only 2 hours with the hope of bolstering tourism to Thailand. The inaugural arrival of the flight at Hua Hin Airport was warmly welcomed by representatives of both the state and private sector.

Mr. Spencer Lee, Director of Commercial for AirAsia Berhad (Malaysia), made known the carrier transported over 1.3 million passengers from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Thailand across a variety of routes last year and that Thailand is one of Malaysians' most popular destinations. He expressed excitement over the launch of Kuala Lumpur-Hua Hin, especially as the inaugural flight to Hua Hin secured a load factor of 85 percent. The airline plans to attract Hua Hin's many travelers to continue on to Kuala Lumpur to reinforce the route.

Ms. Witchunee Kuntapeng, Director of Ground Operations for Thai AirAsia, represented the Thai carrier in receiving the inaugural arrival, saying that the flight was warmly welcomed by Prachuap Khiri Khan's public and private sectors as well as its media members. She explained that Hua Hin and its surrounding area have high tourism growth potential and AirAsia is excited to become part of the community.

Mr. Pairin Chuchotethavorn, Deputy Minister of Transport, indicated the Thai government has set plans to develop Hua Hin Airport with an aim to increase its capability in accommodating travelers as well as commercial airlines to attract more tourists. AirAsia Berhad (Malaysia)'s introduction of 4 weekly flights today (18 May 2018) is a strong start for the government's effort and was fully supported by the Ministry of Transport.

The welcoming ceremony for flight AK830 Kuala Lumpur-Hua Hin on 18 May 2018 was led by Mr. Pairin Chuchotethavorn, Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Daroon Saengchai, Director General of the Department of Airports, Mr. Panlop Singhaseni, Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan province, Mr. Nopporn Wuttikul, Mayor of Hua Hin, Ms. Walailak Noypayak, TAT Director for ASEAN market, Mr. Apisit Ubolkomu, Director of Hua Hin Airport and Ms. Witchunee Kuntapeng, Director of Ground Operations for Thai AirAsia, representing AirAsia, alongside representatives of several government agencies.
