AirAsia invites you to visit the natural heritage of the world with its Bangkok (Don Mueang) – Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, flight taking off from this 16 August 2018 onward with a promotional fare starting at only 1,190 THB* one way. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia (flight code FD), said AirAsia Group continues to affirm its commitment as a truly Asean airline that flies to all 10 countries of the bloc by regularly adding connections to its network across Southeast Asia. The group's latest route is a direct flight from Don Mueang Airport to Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia 3 times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), the first AirAsia's connection between Thailand and Malaysia's eastern region. Today AirAsia is the only airline to offer direct flight between the two cities and is hopeful it will spur tourism and economic growth for both countries.
"Kota Kinabalu is a high potential tourism market. On top of being an important flight base for AirAsia, serving both domestic and international flights, it is also the gateway to Sabah state and home to splendid natural attractions, including Mount Kota Kinabalu which claims Asean's fourth highest peak and a UNESCO World Heritage site known the world over.
Kota Kinabalu is favoured by travellers looking for enjoyable experiences in nature due to its abundant mountains and coasts. It is also brimming with fun activities such as Via Ferrata to the peak of Mount Kinabalu, a vertical approach to climbing considered to be the world's best location for such activity.
Visitors looking for a more relaxed time will still find plenty to do as the destination features short nature treks at Kinabalu National Park, White Water Rafting along the Kadamaian River, Canopy Walk and Poring Hot Spring, Desa Cattle Dairy Farm, Sabah Tea Garden, and marine activities at Borneo Reef World.
AirAsia currently operates the most connections between Thailand and Malaysia in total of 9 routes, with 3 flights per week from Don Mueang to Kota Kinabalu to be its latest addition. The carrier now flies Don Mueang-Kuala Lumpur 84 times a week, Don Mueang-Penang 14 times a week, Don Mueang-Johor Bahru 11 times a week, Hat Yai-Kuala Lumpur 11 times a week, Hua Hin-Kuala Lumpur 4 times a week, Chiang Mai-Kuala Lumpur 7 times a week, Phuket-Kuala Lumpur 7 times a week and Krabi-Kuala Lumpur 21 times a week. All of the flights are serviced by both Thai AirAsia (FD) and AirAsia Malaysia (AK).
AirAsia is providing a special promotional fare for the new route starting at only 1,190 THB* per trip from today to 17 June 2018 for travel from 16 August 2018-13 August 2019 at www.airasia.com and all ticketing channels.
