Tourism accounted for 20% of Thailand's GDP (2.76 trillion Baht) in 2017 and the country expects to reach 3 trillion Baht from more than 30 million tourists this year. In the first half of 2018, Thailand has already seen 19.44 million foreign tourists – a 12% increase from last year. Chinese tourists remain the largest group with a 26% growth rate, reaching 5.9 million to date. These growing numbers are driven by the government's decision to promote both Thailand's primary and secondary tourist cities.

"Thailand's tourism industry is very strong as seen by the increasing number of local and foreign tourists. While the food & hospitality industry is expanding to meet growing demands, businesses also need to develop and expand to take advantage of these opportunities and impress tourists," said Justin Pau, General Manager of UBM Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd. He also noted, "FHT 2018 is the leading international platform for food & hospitality related businesses to explore the latest products and services from both local and international companies, as well as learn new skills from leading global food & hospitality professionals. FHT enables visitors to get ready for new and greater food & hospitality business. We organise FHT to support the industry and build a pathway on which businesses can step forward together and lead Thailand's industry."
