Dr. Akarin Suwannarat, Manager - Renewable Energy Business and Senior Power Plant Consultant of Poyry Energy Ltd was recently granted the Renewable Energy World Asia Best Paper Award for his paper on “ Experience - Wind Power Development in Thailand” delivered at the Renewable Energy World Asia 2011 conference and exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.

Dr. Akarin said that although Thailand’s wind resource is somewhat limited, wind power projects have been increasingly developed in the recent years due to funding received through stimulus packages. The electricity tariff for electricity generated from wind farm is relatively high (approx. 143 Euro/MWh) which have attracted project developers to the market.

The paper, which won international acclamation discussed the obstacles of wind power project development in Thailand and described the experience from wind farm development.
Dr. Akarin said, “I am proud of this award and happy to be at Renewable Energy World Asia to share my knowledge and experience with others.”
