Gyproc reveals innovation and sustainability successes in 2017

Thai Gypsum Products Public Company Limited, the first gypsum manufacturer in Thailand and innovator of the leading brand "Gyproc", has revealed the successful elements of its business in 2017 in terms of leading the market in both innovation and sustainability. The company has received several award nominations and wins during the last 12 business months. This achievement shows Gyproc's strategies have been well executed, and demonstrates its commitment to providing solutions for the development of sustainable habitats. The company has remained heavily focused on minimizing the environmental impact of its products at each stage of their life cycle, and also preparing the business network for increasing demands in construction in ASEAN countries.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary this year, Gyproc announced the latest Strategy 2018 to fully expand its business network to ASEAN markets including Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and the Philippines. Marketing activities were planned to strengthen collaboration with partners in both domestic and foreign markets, and support them in their stance as valued channels for distribution of Gyproc products.

As well expanding the distribution network nationally, Gyproc looks to lead in foreign markets. Thailand has been a strong establishment as a center for goods distribution to neighboring countries. To strengthen the business in 2018, Gyproc will focus on cooperation with partners both domestic and foreign to develop new construction innovations and launch more products and solutions. Joining alliance events is part of a strategy to strengthen collaborations and work closely with domestic and international market partners.

Richard concludes, "Thailand's property market prospects are expected to be brighter in 2018 based on the country's economic expansion. The construction business in the Government sector is likely to grow strongly from their accelerated investment in government infrastructure projects, ongoing projects and new projects. The overview of construction business for the private sector in the country will gradually improve this year, but the competition in the business will be significant. We are confident we can capture this growth as we value collaboration and work closely with partners. We understand the technology involved in gypsum products, and strive to bring in products that cater to the demands of our customers".

In 2017, Gyproc was successful in devising a challenge to the traditional notion that gypsum plasterboard products are not the best solution for use in wet areas or for fixing heavy loads (shelves, curtain poles, TVs, etc. without drilling). Gyproc presented its latest materials and construction systems under the concept "Inside-Out Space" at Architect '17, featuring "the Hanging Sofa" (weighing around 85 kg) which demonstrates the high-strength drywall performance of Gyproc(R) Habito(R). It also organized a seminar under the concept "New Innovative Plasterboard Generation for Wet Areas" that allowed architects to develop a strong understanding of the complete range of Gyproc plasterboard products for wet areas (as with Gyproc(R) Glasroc H OCEAN, an innovation which offers anti-absorption, anti-infiltration of moisture, and fights the growth of mildew and mould without a waterproofing system).

Apart from ongoing efforts to educate target groups, Gyproc maintains an excellent sustainable practice in all aspects of operations, with many awards serving to support this; Top Employers Asia Pacific 2017 award, Top Employers Thailand award, Green Industry Award Level 4, Green Culture from the Thai Ministry of Industry Best Model Operation Corporation 2017 Award (category of National Class Occupational Safety, Health and Environment) and the Department of Skill Development Award.

At the beginning of 2018, Gyproc will send winners of the prestigious Saint-Gobain Gyproc National Trophy Thailand 2017 to compete on the international stage. This will prove Thai architecture and construction is of international standard as projects compete in the 11th Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy (to be hosted in Lisbon, Portugal, on 23rd March, 2018) with other contractors coming from over 45 different countries to compete.
