EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN เป็นภาคแยกออกมาจากเกมซีรีส์ EARTH DEFENSE FORCE พบกับสมรภูมิใหม่กับกองกำลังชุดใหม่ EDF เนื้อเรื่องของเกมเกิดขึ้นบนโลกที่กำลังเกิดหายนะเป็นผลจากการห้ำหั่นกันด้วยสงคราม คุณต้องร่วมผจญภัยไปกับกองกำลัง EDF เพื่อช่วยกันกอบกู้โลก
เนื้อเรื่องของเกมจะมีความคล้ายคลึงกับเกมต้นฉบับ Earth Defense Force 5 โดยตัวเกมรองรับภาษาจีน และเกาหลีอย่างเต็มรูปแบบเพื่อให้ผู้เล่นสัมผัสประสบการณ์การเล่น และเข้าใจเนื้อเรื่องของเกม EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN ได้อย่างเต็มที่
