The 2011 AECOM Bootcamp, held in Bangkok July 15 to 22, applied the company’s cross-disciplinary approach to an effort to emphasize creativity in developing the Bangkok river corridor.
“Bootcampers” learned from the experience of senior practitioners from various AECOM offices, university professors and industry professionals through discussion panels, daily mentorship and critical reviews.
This year’s event, jointly organized by TCC Land Company Limited (TCC) and in association with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), investigates possible developments and enhancements along Bangkok’s main river corridor, under the theme of “Creative Chao Phraya”. This event is in support of transforming Bangkok into a creative city in terms of cultural tourism and in line with the “Creative Thailand” policy to add value to Thai products and services.
“The Bootcamp is an AECOM initiative that highlights our process-oriented approach to solving the world’s most complex challenges. Through case studies, comprehensive analysis, and integrated collaboration between diverse professionals, we provide creative and innovative solutions to address the complex issues of the built environment,” said Dickson Lo, Chief Executive, Asia.
“From the participants’ point of view, this event fosters collaboration among professionals, students and the community. Students gain an insight into how real-life problems are being handled in the professional world, and employees gain exposure to multiple aspects of the company’s capabilities. Participants understand that when we deliver our professional services, the process is as important as the result itself,” he added.
Forty-three AECOM staff from diverse disciplines such as architecture, engineering, economics, environment, landscape and urban design, joined by six representatives from TCC and five students from renowned universities in Thailand, took part in this year’s program.
