The ‘Giving Hands to Nepal’ project is one of the instant responses, once the earthquake news spreading globally over on 25th April this year. The management team and other relevant parties met for brainstorming with focus on how to support orphans whose parents passed away in disastrous earthquake. Our intention will contribute to their long-term development with proper education. However, since the disaster affected such wide areas of losses with people suffering at all levels regardless of genders and ages, our first approach is therefore mitigation of suffering so that people can continue to live with adequate quality. The next step is recovering of living conditions to enhance economic, social and environment circumstances. Thus the social support for orphans shall become sustainably effective.

The ‘Giving Hand to Nepal’ project are of 3 stages;

1. ‘Disaster Relief’ focuses on urgent helps to ensure survival with quality of living. This support provided by the DT Company Group with experiences in property development. The Company provides therefore temporary shelter for those who suffered from housing damages. DT also worked with business alliances to provide the Portable Solar Cell Power Systems to people in needs.

2. The 2nd approach is ‘Recovery’, emphasizes on community participation for recovery of their housing and supported by integration of economy, environment and society to design the model of strong and sustainable community.

3. ‘Taking care of orphans.’ The foundation has intention to provide education for affected orphans from earthquake so that they can complete the basic education in Nepal. This is a long-term working with capable local organizations trusted by all parties concerned.

Therefore, this scheme is really based on collaboration internally and externally with Change Fusion both in Thailand and Nepal. Financial supports were provided to 50 houses in Bhattedadha, to build temporary shelters with 112 set of Portable Solar Cell Power Systems. We also work jointly with Asian Coalition for Housing Rights (ACHR) and Lumanti to provide totally 90 temporary shelters with 20 shelters in Sankhu, and 50 shelters in Bhaktapur, plus 20 shelters in Gokarna. We work with the local community development groups to start the long term recovery and development. After starting the project in the name of DT FAMILIES FOUNDATION we have also worked with affiliates on certain times to follow up the progress and sent our working team to Nepal to discuss with the local organizations regarding progresses on 8th -10th June, 2015.
