Since 2013, Orange Bike, which has been initiated by ING, has presented 3,200 bikes to school children in the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand. According to the report by World Vision, the results in the Philippines and Indonesia show that the attendance rates of the children who received the bikes and their school performance have increased. The bike is more than a vehicle for a student to ride to school. It is a tool for economic and social development of the less-privileged students and their families. The bikes have helped improve the livelihood of the families when used during non-school days. These bikes can carry a load of 200 kilograms and can be used to transport farm produce to the market.
The presentation ceremony of the bicycles in Thailand took place at Thai Rath Withaya School 87 (Nikom Sang Ton Eng 1), Sirinthorn District, Ubon Ratchathani, with the presences of Mr. Nakhon Siriprinyanan, Sirinthorn District Chief; Mrs. Chitra Thumborisuth, National Director of World Vision Thailand; Mr. Jackapun Chaiyingkritsiri, Deputy Director of Primary Education – Ubon Ratchathani Zone 3; school principals, students as well as ING and TMB employee volunteers.
